1. REMOTELY PILOTED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS AS A TOOL FOR RESEARCH IN NATURAL SCIENCES
Drones are not new, nor are natural sciences researchers, but just recently discovering their utility as research tools. They represent a cutting-edge technology, which is way ahead of its time. Today’s drones are affordable, portable, usable, and capable of taking a brand new type of data that were not at researchers hands few years ago. But using a drone as a research tool is not an easy task. It is necessary, in most countries, to have a licence, but also to learn the necessary know-how for your data collection to be safe and strait ahead, that is, without loosing your equipment and your time.
The main objective of this course is to present the capabilities of the RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) to obtain new data for research in different scenarios within the broad field of the natural sciences.
